Hi all-

I am having a problem getting the basement membranes in the glomeruli to
stain using periodic acid methanamine silver stain.  The basement membranes
of tubules and reticular fibers are staining very well.  I'm using a kit
from Polyscientific, Inc that recommends incubation in at 70C for 60-75
minutes.  I've gone out to 90+ minutes with no improvement.  I was hoping
somebody out there would be able to shed some light on the subject.  I'm
going to another protocol that calls for microwaving at 95C for 15 to 20
minutes but I wanted to see if there were any other thoughts out there.
