Job title:  Administrative Director for Medical Center Pathology

Description of job and areas of experience required or preferred:

Reporting to the Associate Administrator for Ancillary and Support
Services, will organize, coordinate and facilitate the operational,
financial, programmatic and personnel activities of Histology,
Cytogenetics, DNA Probe LAB, Flow Cytometry, Electron Microscopy, Autopsy
Services, Immunocytochemistry Lab, and Medical Center Pathology
Administration.  Work closely with faculty and residents to assure
appropriate and efficient operation of Medical Center Pathology.
Facilitate, coordinate and assist lab supervisors with the timely and
accurate submittal of operating and capital budgets.  Develop and
implement effective monitoring systems that assure departmental standards
are maintained.  Interview, select, coach, counsel and evaluate staff.
Serve in leadership role in Medical Center-wide quality improvement
activities.  Facilitate program planning activities.  Maintain Pathology
information system.  Respond to and handle patient and/or public concerns
regarding Pathology-related services.
 
Requirements:  A Bachelor's degree in a related field; at least five years
progressively responsible supervisory experience in a clinical laboratory
setting, to include Anatomic Pathology; change management/process
improvement experience.  HTL (ASCP) certification, a Master's Degree and
experience in a teaching hospital laboratory are highly desirable.
Equivalent education/experience may substitute for stated requirements.
