I have had good results with it.

"Subbed" slides, ie.slides coated with a gelatin + chrome alum (chromium
potassium sulfate) are fine for routine stains and most immunos. However, high
temperatures, alkaline solutions or enzyme treatments may require "silane"
coated slides.
