Here is a small selection. All are excellent, including the first
two, which are probably now out of print. There are also several
good books that are aimed primarily at pathology labs. Older
books (meaning pre-1960) are valuable when an obscure technique
is needed. They don't often show up in 2nd-hand bookshops, so
if you see one, get it!

1. Gabe M (1976) Histological Techniques (English ed.,
transl. E. Blackith & A. Kavoor). Masson, Paris.

2. Humason GL (1979) Animal Tissue Techniques.
  4th ed. Freeman, San Francisco.

3. Sanderson JB (1994) Biological Microtechnique.
  BIOS Scientific Publications & Royal
  Microscopical Society, Oxford.

4. Presnell JK, Schreibman MP (1997) Humason's Animal
Tissue Techniques. 5th ed. Johns Hopkins University
  Press, Baltimore.
