This fixative was used to preserve color

for 5 gallons (a bit of overkill here!, you will need to recalculate)

Sodium chloride 90 g
Sodium bicarbonate 162 g
Sodium sulfate 200g
Chloral hydrate 360 g
formaldehyde 400 cc
dissolved in 5 gallons distilled water.

If you cut it in half, the volume is 9.08 liters, keep cool at 4C.

Have the recipe, can't say how it works.
