For connective tissue mast cells, probably the ones you are most interested
in, the Churkian Schenk toluidine blue is the best I have used, it does
not give blue background everywhere, cleans it up, simple, easy to use, and
found in J Histotechnology, 4(2) June 1981 pp 85-86.
Each mast cell stands out as an individual cell, without all the
annoying overall t blue background seen in other methods.
