Dear Carolyn:
We have two VIP tissue processors and we use Microclear in place of xylene, 
but when the serviceman was out he recommended strongly that we use xylene in 
the purge cycle to make sure our machine stays in working conditions, We 
haven't had any problems with our tissue processor, so before we do have 
problems we are going to take his advice. I work in a research lab and we 
don't run our tissue processor everyday so before you switch to something 
besides xylene , check and see what others have tried with there work load. 
Plus we use paraplast plus for our paraffin. I hope this helps.
