Victor Meldrew is a character from a classic BBC situation comedy.
He is a crabbit cantankerous old sod and if it's going to go wrong then you
can be sure it'll go wrong with him. Incidentally, the actor who plays the
part, Richard Wilson, a fellow Scot, was a medical laboratory technician
before being captured by the lure of the stage.
