Like Gayle in an earlier email, my personal preference is the Weigert Resorcin Fuchsin. It gives clearly stained elastic fibers without any background staining. Additionally, the stain used can be changed to give blue-green elastic fibers (Sheridan's) or red fibers (Weigert French modification)
