High Iron Diamine Stain

We have done high iron diamine - but years ago.  Checking with the 
original reagent list, I find that we used both anhydrous and hydrated 
ferric chloride (FeCl3-6H20).  Both worked.  We adjusted the amount of 
hydrated ferric chloride to make up for the waters.  Yes, there is an 
exothermic reaction with the ferric chloride, but if you add it slowly to 
the water, with stirring, you should have no problem.
