Sharon,

CAM 5.2 is used to stain for cytokeratin protein 8 (~52 kDa) and to a
lesser degree, protein 7 (~43 kDa). According to our product insert from
Becton Dickinson, CAM 5.2 will stain most epithelial-derived tissue,
including liver, renal tubular epithelium, and hepatocellular and renal cell
carcinomas. BD's CAM 5.2 does not stain stratified squamous epithelium and
may not react with some cases of squamous cell carcinoma.

We use BD's predilute CAM 5.2, cat. #: 349205 on Ventana's gen II and ES
automated immunostainers on FFPE and frozen tissue as well as cytology
preparations. For FFPE specimens, we use Ventana's Protease 2/16" and an
incubation time of 20" for the primary antibody all at 42 degrees C. For
frozens and cytospins or smears, we incubate the primary for 28" and no
protease.

Let me know if there is anything else I can help with.
