You can use dry ice and acetone or dry ice and isopropanol, both works fine,
recently we have used just straight isobutane which we keep in the -80
freezer. All of these methods work ok, just be careful that your specimens
are small, otherwise especially in the dry ice mixture the tissue specimens
will crack which will cause problems when you cut cryostat sections.

We would like to send out our muscle biopsies. I'm looking for a way to snap

freeze the muscle other than using the liquid nitrogen. I have heard of a 
"slurry " something using alcohol and acetone. does anyone have the 
proportions if they are even correct.
