The only other stain I found in Bancroft & Stevens is the Aluminon method
(Irwin 1955) for methacrylate embedded tissue. If you are interested, I
could send you a copy of this page. 
It uses Aurin tricarboxylic acid (aluminon), but I don't know, if this dye
is available.
