I have done IHC on plastics very successfully using Polyscience's ImmunoBed.
It is basically the same thing as JB-4, but designed to allow the
macro-molecules used in immuno to easily penetrate.  The protocol I used
also called for a pre-treatment with sodium ethoxide (ethanol saturated with
sodium hydroxide) to etch away some of the plastic thus making the staining
(theoretically) easier.  Overall, the protocol did not need to be adapted
too much from that used on paraffin sections excepting times were increased
and done at 37 degrees instead of at room temp.
