We use formalin-fixed liver for a positive control for both of these cytokeratins. In general, bile ducts and hepatocytes are positive for CAM 5.2, whereas only bile ducts show immunoreactivity with AE1 &AE3. Please note that hepatocytes can show immunoreactivity for AE1 & AE3, but usually only after harsh pretreatment or when a non-formalin fixative is used.
