I agree with Ian to an extent, the UK is expensive, and parts of it are dirty, like London, but it is far from an environmental desert and outside the South East, the natives are friendly.
But to bring this more on topic, we have some very good histo labs, and the training for histotechs within the NHS is superb, just a shame they don't pay a decent wage to keep us there (says one who escaped into industry a good while ago!).
