Thanks to all who responded to the bone histology question about
distinguishing woven
bone from lamellar bone. The suggestions and comments were all very
helpful!
For those who are interested, I've included a summary of the
suggestions:
Sirrus red stain under polarized light --- Patsy Ruegg
Masson trichrome -- Ann Samways
SEM in the Backscatter mode -- Markus F. Meyenhofer
Overstain with the hematoxylin;
Toludine blue stain;
Surface staining of acid etched ground sections in MMA -- Gayle
Callis
Omit the nuclear stain and use a van Gieson stain,to distinguish
bone matrix
from it's background -- Barry Rittman
Thanks,
