Dear Dr. Speranza,
Thank you very much for your inquiry about Histology Consultation
Services (HCS).
HCS is owned by myself and my wife and we have five employees. I am a
registered Histotechnologist with over 26 years of experience in Histology
and my wife is a Cytotechnologist with a BA degree from Gallaudet
University.
HCS has been in business since 1985 and here in Oak Harbor since 1989.
We offer a full range of histology work including implant material sections
and
paraffin sections as well as a full range of special staining.
We do work for several pathologists and many other research
companies.

 Some of our clients include:
Dr. Ann Hargis of Dermato Diagnostics,
Dr. Michael Garner of Northwest Zoopath,
David Gribble,
Dr. Kathy Burek of Alaska Vet. Path. Services,
research companies such as:
Immunex Inc. of Seattle,
ICOS in Seattle,
MegaBios in California,
Northwest Pacific Research Foundation,
Case Western Reserve University,
AMI, and others.
Contact Dr. Denny Liggitt for references at 1-206-685-3256, or I can supply
names and phone numbers of any of the others as well.

We have a very quick turnaround time. We will usually ship slides out
the next day (unless it is an unusually large study or complicated plastic
procedure in which case we would need a few more days.)

We use state-of-the-art equipment, such as the newest Leica RM2165 advanced
rotary microtome (for biological and material science sectioning
applications including metal implants).
Fisher LX120 automated tissue processor (computer controlled).
Codeon Automated slide stainer (robotic arm, computer controlled). As well
as Richard Allen, Inc. stains and dyes for the highest quality staining.

Our prices are as follows:
For plastic sectioning of metal implants our normal charge is $90.00 per
block, however for a large quantity such as you would have we would offer a
50% discount on the project. thus your price would be $45.00 per block for
this project.

Other charges (for your information)
6.00/block for routine paraffin H&E slides (1.00/block trimming charges if
tissues needs to be trimmed in before processing)
additional 4.00/slide for sections on coated "+" slides.
Recuts on paraffin blocks 2.00/slide
Decal 4.00 per block
Plastic sections 12.00/block for standard soft plastics.
Plastic implants 90.00/block; levels/20.00 additional per slide.
special stains on implant blocks 20.00/slide
Price may vary depending upon implant material and complexity.
Shipping charges applied.

I hope this answers some of your questions and we look forward to hearing
back from you.

Sincerely,
LeRoy Brown HT(ASCP) HTL
