We also do this followed by a quick alchol rinse then set on the edge of the
fumehood to speed the drying time.

Hi,
This may be an easy problem to remedy especially if you use a slide etcher to
label your slides. The etcher leaves this black residue (scraped frost from
frosted slides) on you slides. Remedy: Simply put slides in rack, wash with
soap and water, rinse, and you now have beautiful squeaky clean slides free
from any residue ready for sections.
