Amy,
we have about 60 cases per day (about 200 blocks) , four consultants and one
trainee. One path takes all the GI biopsy work and one path (based on the
weeks rota) will have trimmed the "gross" specimens the day before, so we
normally only have two paths on take on any one day (some days only one). By
common consent all our biopsy work is pushed through ASAP and the larger,
mutiple blocks come through after.
We start cutting at 08:30, urgent cases will be through within an hour, we
normaly have all our work through by 13:30. The next day another path is on
take for the gross specimens.
