Can someone tell me what buffer(s) are recommended for fixation of
avian brain tissues. I've been using a 10% formol-saline solution which
seems to work ok for staining with cresyl-violet. However, I would like to
use some immunocytochemical stains (e. g. calbindin) and note in the
literature that 4% paraformaldehyde in phosphate buffer is used for this
and similar stains. A precise formulation would be appreciated, or, where
to get a commerically available mix that requires addition of water.
Shipping overseas a consideration. Please send response to above address
and to reb@ravel.zoology.wisc.edu.
