Immunofluorescence or histochemistry methods for mitochondrial stain

From:Alessandra Livraghi

Hallo everybody,
I have some frozen sections and 4% paraformaldehyde fixed/paraffin embedded sections of respiratory epithelium I would like to stain for mitochondria. I'm trying some immunofluorescence methods, but looking for suggestions in HistoNet I found out that there are also some histochemistry methods to visualize mitochondria in tissues (Cain's, Novelli...).
Since I'm not an experienced histologist, can anybody give me some advices/references (where maybe I could find a detailed protocol) about these methods?
Thank you very much in advance!
Alessandra
