bone cement
From: | Cathy Mayton <Cathy@wasatchhisto.com> |
Dear Diane,
We had some studies while I was working in the Bone & Joint Research Lab in
Salt Lake. The bone cement would swell in the 70% alcohol we used to fix
the bone. We were not interested in preserving the bone cement. The
specimens were sheep femurs with a femoral component in-situ. The
specimens were embedded whole (proximal femur) in MMA. The MMA WILL
dissolve the bone cement.
If you wish to preserve the bone cement in can be preserved by embedding in
Spurr's. The Spurr guru for this type of work is in Toronto and I do not
know if she subscribes to histonet.
Good luck!!
Cathy
