Dear Josie:

We have seen HER-2 immunoreactivity on alcohol-fixed, cytologic preps
of breast cancer cells showing HER-2/neu amplification.  The only
differences in the procedure that you might want to investigate are: 1.)
is pretreatment necessary? and 2.) using a higher dilution of the
primary antibody.

fixation in 95% alcohol  of smears for Her- 2  affect the 
staining? How about  cell blocks fixed in 95% alcohol?  Any information
