RE: Prostate core biopsies

From:Walzer Susan

We supply the Dr.'s with Omni-Fix. (an alcoholic fixative) They are then
processed with NBF. We use Enzo's K903 AB and strong trysin digestion.

Subject: Prostate core biopsies

We're having trouble getting good nuclear staining and K9 IHC staining on
our prostate needle biopsies.
Clinician's offices fix them in 10% NBF. We put through 4 hour process with
alcoholic
zinc formalin in the first couple of stations as this enhances the nuclear
staining on our other tissues
fixed in 10% NBFbut not the prostate bxs for some reason.
Can you folks share what fixation gives you excellent H&E staining and what
K9 antibody you use
for IHC (our HIER is steam and we use Proteinase K pretreatment) ?
Appreciate your help-
Thanks-
Jude
