Hale's Colloidal Iron is a stain for acidic mucopolysaccharides, and is
included in many current texts and reference books, including those by
L.Luna, and L.Vacca.

This is done in local labs fairly routinely, without involving reference
labs. I do not have the method here at home, but if you cannot locate one,
please e-mail your fax number to the address below and I will fax you a copy
of our method.

My 1985 edition of Linda Vacca's 'Laboratory Manual of Histochemistry'
(Raven Press) discusses the method fairly well.
