Several years back, at either a regional meet or national NSH, one of the
suppliers gave out neat knife guards. These were simply a 'soft' magnet
(complete with advertising) that had a second strip glued to the top rear
surface. This allowed free and quick removal to change/move blades. and they
were not cumbersome to use. The rear strip was above the sharp edge when in
use, so there was a very effective safety barrier.
Would be a simple matter to make these from tourist-type soft magnets.
I always engage the lock when not actively cutting - and that includes
during block loading and removal. I want to retire with all digits intact,
thank you!
