I had that problem too. I tried walking around in my socks (not too safe
and not much difference) and I tried Static Guard. What seemed to work best
was putting a beaker of water on a hot plate and just letting it boil the
whole time I was cutting sections. It humidifies the room, thus eliminating
the static electricity! Good luck.
