Ralwax1 was and is manufactured by Raymond A Lamb. It is
commonly available paraffin wax compounded with "high molecular
weight plastic c-polymers, which impart toughness and fleibility to
the wax". It is the only histological wax I have found that has a
noticeably different crystalline structure.
It can be particularly useful as a support medium for very hard
and/or tough tissue. It is not a panacea for cutting bone, fibrous
uterii and other swear-word inducing tissues. A sharp blade is still
the prime requirement. But Ralwax IS different.
Cannot remember their US agent at the moment, but it will come
back to me (I hope to heaven it does!)
