I have had the same problem before with methyl green counterstatin. But
Dako's methyl green catalog #S1962, $79 for 500 ml lasts even past the
expiration date with very nice staining. I only counterstain 30 seconds,
rinse in water, dehydrate and clear and coverslip as usual.
