Frieda Carson (author of Histotechnology: A
Self-Instructional Text) suggests a 2 month shelf-life
for Bouin's solution. In our lab, we make a stock
bottle of Bouin's solution up to 6 months in advance.
The coplin jar of Bouin's that we use for Masson's
trichrome is replaced monthly from the stock bottle.
