Dear Histonetters,

I'm looking for a way to stain bovine X chromosomes
in tissue sections. We have an excellent Y chromosome
probe but it seems to be difficult to find a probe or
a suitable DNA sequence for the X.

The probe should produce a strong, localized signal,
so it should preferably hybridize to a highly repetitive
but localized sequence. I emphasize that it needs
to be X specific.

So, any information on commercial or other products
or useful sequences are appreciated, as well as information
on inter-species cross-reactivity of human / mouse /
whatever widely used X probes.
