The "standard" way to extract lipids is a 1:1 mixture of methanol and chloroform, used warm or hot. I forget the exact temperature and time but 30-60 minutes at 37C should do it. Do use a fume hood and NO open flames.

Hi all.....but figured I would throw it out as a question.   Does anyone know of a method to "extract" lipids  (mainly traicylglycerols and cholesterol esters) from formalin fixed sections. --------------------------------------
