iron pigment
I came across literature some time ago that bouins solution will remove iron. I had the opportunity to try this out on a couple of occasions with a new person making a staining mistake. She accidentally put liver bx's that were supposed to be stained trichrome into a coplin jar of iron solution (Hcl/Potassium ferr.). I removed the slides, washed them in H2O and promptly put in bouins for about 30 minutes. Trichrome stain was then performed and without any trace of iron staining.
