RE: CSF cytology preparation procedure

Elizabeth,
This is our method:

CEREBROSPINAL FLUID

1. Label 2-4 sticky slides (dependent on sample volume).

2. Erect slides in cytocentrifuge.

3. Add 3-4 drops fluid per tube.

4. Centrifuge at 500rpm for 5 min.

5. Remove slides and fix half slides in 95% alcohol for 20 min.  Allow remaining slides to air dry for DQ and Giemsa staining.

Subject: CSF cytology preparation procedure

Hello histonetters,

I was wondering if there was someone who would kindly be willing to share
their standard procedure for preparing a cerebral spinal fluid for a
cytology evaluation?  Thank you in advance for your help!
