RE: Microm HM505
We have both an HM505N (mechanical advance) and an HM505E (motorized
advance). Most of us here like them but have varying experiences due to
using different embedding media and cutting varying tissues. The mechanical
model was purchased new about five years ago. We haven't had the motorized
model very long (it was donated by a facility that closed down) and hence it
hasn't gotten much use here yet.
I know this isn't a lot of help, but I thought I'd comment anyway.

Does anyone know anything about the microm HM505 cryostat from Richard
Allen? We are thinking about buying it.
