Michel's is a transport media, not a fixative.
Our laboratory provides Paraformaldehyde-G Fixative for HRLM-TEM and
Michel's Transport Media for immunofluorescent studies.
Nephrologist/surgeon/clinician will divide biopsy and place in appropriate
vials.  The most important to our pathologist is the HRLM-TEM, as you can
always do TEM to look for immune deposits. Immunofluorescent is most
important for IgA or an IgG nephropathy.
We have had to process biopsy submitted in Michel's for HRLM-TEM and the
morphology is terrible! Worse than 10% Formalin.
