It sound a little like what some call "nuclear meltdown".
Explanations focus on water in wet tissue or slides when the material
is heated.
Water carried over into the wax bath on the processor or the sections
still being damp when the wax melts when drying could be the cause.
I've seen it mostly on small biopsies but then the eosin is a little
pale too.
Look for water in the bottom of the wax bath and dry the slides
slower or at a lower temp before melting the wax.
