mast cell stain

From:Mike Bromley <MBromley@picr.man.ac.uk>

Alex,
I have a reference for the use of aminocaproate esterase:
Am J Clin Pathol 73:48-54 (1980)
'Eosinophilia in systemic mastocytosis' by LT Yam, CF Yam and CY Li
I have used the stain to identify mast cells in glycol methacrylate embedded
tissue (see Arthritis and Rheumatism 27: 857-863 (1984) 'Histopathology of
the Rheumatoid Lesion' M Bromley and DE Woolley

I don't think the stain works well on routine formalin fixed paraffin
embedded tissue. Also I don't think the substrate is commercially available.

Best Wishes

Subject: Mast cells

recently I heard from a colleague about a method for mast cell staining in
human. He told me about aminocaproate-esterase staining, which should be
very specific.

I cannot find anything about this stain neither in AFIP's, Bancroft,
Kiernan, Burckhardt or Romeis.

Can someone send me a recipe of this stain.
