I am serially sectioning knee joints (sagitally) to
look for osteoarthritic changes in the articular
cartilage.  

Three questions:
a) How would you describe a "lesion"?  I hear
reference to this but no one can quite describe one.
b) What stains, besides H & E, can you recommend? 
Differentiation of the nuclei is still desired. 
c) Hypercellularity and thickness data is being used
to demonstrate the osteoarthritis.  Any other ideas on
how to quantify the changes? (strictly LM; we are also
doing immunofluorescence)
