We are currently using the disc microtomes from Leica, once you get past the surprise at not having a handwheel they really are great, no sore wrists, elbows,etc. They are about the same price as other automated tomes and are fun to use plus they cut beautiful sections especially on stuff like uterus>

I am in the process of demos for an automated microtome.My question goes out to
those who are using the Olympus automated microtome. Does this microtome have
the advance and retraction of the block automated? If it is automated, is it
with the push of a button or the footpedal? What are the pros and cons of this
particular microtome.
