Actually here in Atlanta, USA walking is strongly discouraged by the local
officials. No sidewalks are provided and those renegades who attempt to
"walk" must use the traffic lanes to do so. Drivers help the local officials
enforce this ban by running down anyone who attempts to "walk" anywhere. The
State Dept of Big Roads helps out by designing all roads and intersections
in such a way that a "pedestrian" needs the qualifications a of an Olympic
Gold medal in sprinting to make it across alive. The police help out by not
enforcing any traffic laws (in fact we wonder why there is a police force
and what they actually do besides sit at the Waffle House all day).

You folks may laugh about Richard's buggy, but can you imagine
paying more that $6 a gallon?
And the UK is a net exporter of oil!
