Milwaukee Info

From:"Mitchell (Jean)" <jmitchell@neurology.wisc.edu> (by way of histonet)

Hopefully many of you are making plans to travel to Milwaukee,
Wisconsin for the NSH 26th annual Symposium/Convention, September
16-21st being held at the newly built Midwest Express Convention
Center. I wanted to provide you with some information that may help
you to prepare for your experience in this thoroughly enjoyable city.

September weather in Milwaukee should be in the 70's and very
pleasant. The Midwest Express Center is located in downtown
Milwaukee, with the 3 hotels that NSH is using (the Hyatt, Hilton,
Holiday Inn) all within a block of the center. Milwaukee's
international airport is a 15 minute ride to the downtown area. The
airport shuttle to the hotels is priced at $8.50 each way and I was
quoted that it should be available every 20 minutes.

A sampling of what to venture out and see in downtown Milwaukee in
your free time: The river walk is 2 blocks and Lake Michigan is 12
blocks away from the Convention Center. There are 165 unique
restaurants, bars and microbreweries to discover. A 120 store mall is
directly across the street from the Center. Within a couple of blocks
of the Center are farmers markets with live music featured every
Wednesday and Saturday through October. The Milwaukee Public Museum
features an IMAX Theater which at the time of the NSH meeting will be
playing "Dolphins" & "The Old Man and the Sea". For more info on
Milwaukee and the surrounding area go to these websites:

The Greater Milwaukee Convention & Visitors Bureau at: 1-800-231-0903
is also available to help you out.

For the sports minded: The Milwaukee Brewers will be hosting the
Chicago Cubs, Sept. 18-20th. The 21-22nd Pittsburgh will be in town.
All games are at 7:05. For more information check out the Brewer
website: www.milwaukeebrewers. com

A reminder: The Awards Banquet will be on a new evening this year.
Instead of Wednesday the banquet will be featured on Sunday night
Sept 17th. If you plan on attending the banquet it is important that
you purchase your ticket in advance of your arrival in Milwaukee.
Contact the NSH office if you still need to buy a banquet ticket.

If you have any further questions or need help with anything else,
feel free to contact me. I will do what I can to assist you.
