While the block is in the holder, I'll dip a kimwipe in my waterbath & hold
it on the tissue for a few seconds, then chill it with ice for a few more
seconds, and it'll ribbon like magic. I learned this trick when all of our
routine surgicals were fixed with Zenkers'. It will make tissue very dry &
brittle, especially if it stayed in the fixative too long.
