By the way, it is called TUNEL staining, an acronym for the procedure TdT
mediated dUTP nick end labeling. Sorry don't have the original reference
right off hand.

I found an excellent online resource that starts at the basics and
walks you through. It is a Boerhinger-Mannheim site and
it's a complete color text with great diagrams. Of course there is
plenty of B-M product information, but I found that useful as well!
