Dear Patty,
Using a band saw to cut femoral heads is much safer if you use a
large melon ball maker padded with sponges. This device looks like a pair
of scissors -- but instead of blades there are two rounded cups at the end.
I superglue the cassette sponges to the inside and edge of the cups for
additional gripping power. It also has the additional safety feature of
placing a metal handle between your hand and the blade. Haven't lost a
femoral head in years-or any fingers:-)
		Linda
PS - Did you pathologist perhaps confuse Stryker saw with Scroll saw?
Can't imagine using a scroll saw for cutting cortical bone.
