Question: Is this to thaw a tissue that has been snap frozen for
cryosectioning? Probably a silly question.

If this is the case, we just drop the tissue, OCT and all, into NBF
to fix as it thaws. Seems to work, even though the damage of freeze/thaw
will not be totally avoided. We did change the NBF to get rid of OCT
goo.
