We are required to keep our slides and blocks for 20 years.  After that
time we
double red bag them and put them in hard fiber boxes that we routinely use for
disposing of our specimens.  They are then sent on their way for disposal via
our waste management department.Hope this helps.  If you have any

Just curious...

How are different facilities handling the disposal of paraffin blocks?  What
do you do with the blocks that have been fixed in mercuric fixatives?  Any
and all answers are welcome!
