i see - thanks Bonnie and Rene for your input...

The old trial sections have not only a lower dilution that didn't  
work, but a completely different antibody. the rest of the protocol  
would be the same.

it sounds as though if my old sections were understained it may be  
worth a shot.....but no guarantees :) if i'm understanding you  
correctly.
