[Histonet] setting up immunohistochemistry
I've retired from full time employment to pursue my previous peripatetic
existence as the Samurai Pathologist. I'm being asked to look into seeing up
immunohistochemistry for a rather isolated solo pathology practice. The service has
three histotechnologists, one of whom is capable of working with IHC (the
other two are very near retirement).
1. How many billable slides a year does the service have to expect to
produce, to justify the cost of running an IHC service?
2. There are I think three competing instruments available in the USA. Which
of these would you suggest for a service such as the one I describe? How do
you go about deciding among them?
